The photo of the day!

This is my project where I post a photo taken that day to this "Daily Photo" gallery, which is linked to the Daily Photo community on Smugmug.

This project has been quite interesting for me and has had many benefits for me. I see more. I take better photos. I learn about photography. I have no training at all, so my technical skill is non existent, but I like to think I capture some interesting slices of life in our time. This was the first year of my daily photo project. You can see the year two gallery here: http://inourtime.smugmug.com/gallery/7530427_zJAuW/1/486314056_XnTHi

InOurTime > March 5, 2009 Daily Photo. Day 365.

View from the West Village toward Hoboken and Jersey City. Usually I am taking photos from the opposite side of the Hudson in the park in front of the building with the two pyramids you can see on the middle right. Thought it would be interesting to take a pic from this side but the light got away from me and I had no tripod so this will have to do. You really need to look at this as large as you can.

In the end, I did what I always do in choosing my 365th daily photo. I just took photos when I could (which was after work) and then picked the one I liked the best.

Thanks for all of your comments and good wishes over the past year. I will keep posting a photo every day but I won't guarantee that I took it that day. I may just edit and post one from another day.

Sheridan Square at Dusk.

Two streets diverged in a city and....

Well, I haven't a clue as to what to do for my 365th photo tomorrow. We'll see what pops up.

Terra Cotta mural in the Fulton Street subway station. This mural, and several other similar ones, were moved here from a hotel that became a condo.

I was trying to capture the mural and also the subway feel.

City Hall, Hoboken.

No great snow pic today as I had to work and there was less snow than predicted. However, this gives a good idea of the amount of snow we wound up with. One doesn't get to see City Hall often without cars parked in front.

Disappointed about the snow and now it is freezing...23 going down to 12. It feels much colder with that wind off the Hudson. Yay.

Off to the gym to be tortured by my personal trainer. lol.

Feels like snow.

Washington Street, Hoboken, Sunday at dusk.

Big storm expected tonight with anywhere from 8 to 12 inches of snow predicted.
InOurTime > 2/28/09 Daily Photo. Day 360.

McSorley's Old Ale House on 7th Street in the East Village.

It celebrated it's 155th anniversary last week. I've spent a few evenings and afternoons in there.

InOurTime > 2/27/09 Daily Photo. Day 359.

Jay Street Brooklyn subway exit. Pretty dreary, no? That closed up place at the bottom was a barber shop. There is a sign that reads Transit Barber Shop which is only visible from a moving escalator. I tried getting a photo of it but this was the best I got due to the escalator moving and full of people: http://inourtime.smugmug.com/gallery/4834840_AfMZz/1/481920096_mRrnv

P.S. ( 2/28/09) Just want to say thanks to everyone for all of their comments on my photos. I truly appreciate them. I don't get to make as many comments as I should and try to do as many as I can on the weekend. I hope no one feels slighted. I love looking at all of your photos and I have learned much.

Also, I have 6 photos to go till I reach 365. I thought I'd take suggestions for my last photos of this year. So feel free to make suggestions.

I intend to keep it up for a second year but with different rules. I won't necessarily post a photo taken that day but will post a photo each day.
InOurTime > 2/26/09 Daily Photo. Day 358. Taken on my iPhone

I like the tree against the columns and the light & dark. I figured it was time for an iPhoto shot since I hadn't posted one in a while.

NYC Cab.

I cropped this one a lot.

Check out the fall out shelter sign on the side of the building.

Meat truck in downtown Brooklyn. I like the color and the artwork.

What the heck is "city-dressed" beef anyway? I googled it. Trust me, you'd rather not know.

A sign of our world in our time.

Pier A park, Hoboken, New Jersey.
InOurTime > 2/21/09 Daily Photo. Day 353.

Hoboken High School Building.

It's no longer used as the high school; it is a middle school now. I think it's got great architecture and it is set back a bit from the street and there is a park across the street. Unfortunately, the park, 2 blocks square, has been cut up into several playgrounds, a dogrun, and an artificial turf area and hence has lost all charm.

Anyway, I installed more RAM in my MacBook and my Imac today and they are flying. The price was one tenth of the Apple store! It took maybe 45 minutes to do both. You really have to push those modules in hard so it took a few tries with the MacBook.

I also received my 20 by 24 inch Abraham Lincoln photo beautifully framed. He does not have a beard in this photo. It was taken by Alexander Hesler in 1860. The print was made using a "long lost positive transparency" by the George Eastman House museum. There was a newspaper article about it a few weeks ago with a photo and it was so good and so I decided I had to have a print of it. It's very good.

Ah, and some New Balance sneakers that I couldn't find anywhere because they no longer make this model but that I was able to find on line arrived. Since they no longer make them, I ordered 3 pairs...I had to buy them from different places...different colors of course...
