The photo of the day!

This is my project where I post a photo taken that day to this "Daily Photo" gallery, which is linked to the Daily Photo community on Smugmug.

This project has been quite interesting for me and has had many benefits for me. I see more. I take better photos. I learn about photography. I have no training at all, so my technical skill is non existent, but I like to think I capture some interesting slices of life in our time. This was the first year of my daily photo project. You can see the year two gallery here: http://inourtime.smugmug.com/gallery/7530427_zJAuW/1/486314056_XnTHi

InOurTime > 1/19/09 Daily Photo. Day 320.

Castle Point Terrace, Hoboken, in the snow.

That hill is great for sleigh riding when there is a lot of snow.
InOurTime > 1/18/09 Daily Photo. Day 319.

Icy Hudson River with reflections.

I've never seen the buildings reflected in the Hudson like this before. It must have something to do with the ice floes on this side of the river. There were a large number of ice floes against the Hoboken side of the river but when I came out of the gym a little over an hour later they had broken up.

I've read that the whole river used to freeze up and people used to use sleds on the river back in the 1700's. I'm not sure that's true but James Fenimore Cooper writes of it in his novels.
InOurTime > 1/17/09 Daily Photo. Day 318.

Hudson Place, Hoboken.

This is the main transportation hub, with the PATH station, bus terminal, taxis, ferries and commuter trains. It was a balmy 18 degrees when I took this shot, up from 6 degrees this morning.
InOurTime > 1/16/09 Daily Photo. Day 317.

River Street, Hoboken at 14 degrees.

Not a great photo, but I think it shows the cold and there is no way I am going back out to get a better shot....lol.
InOurTime > 1/15/09 Daily Photo. Day 316.

Broadway & Liberty Street.

I think this shot captures the kind of morning it was.
InOurTime > 1/14/09 Daily Photo. Day 315.

Sign at the PATH station at the WTC.
InOurTime > 1/13/09 Daily Photo. Day 314.

The Ghost of Christmas Past.

Chambers Street, Manhattan.
InOurTime > 1/12/09 Daily Photo. Day 313.

Dusk on 9th Street, Manhattan.
InOurTime > 1/11/09 Daily Photo. Day 312.

Marine & Aviation Building from Castle Point, Hoboken.
InOurTime > 1/10/09 Daily Photo. Day 311.

Why yes, it was absolutely freezing next to the river, and I did get my camera covered in snow and my fingers did feel like they were frostbit. The best view is larger.

InOurTime > 1/9/09 Daily Photo. Day 310.

Cold January sky through trees.

Snow is coming tomorrow and it sure feels like it. Hopefully I will get some good snow photos.
InOurTime > 1/8/09 Daily Photo. Day 309.

I like the color & design & transparency of this building front in downtown Brooklyn.
InOurTime > 1/7/09 Daily Photo. Day 308.

Washington Street in the rain.
InOurTime > 1/6/09 Daily Photo. Day 307.

Christmas Lights.

This looks best when viewed large.
InOurTime > 1/5/09 Daily Photo. Day 306.

Rushing home.
1/19/09 Daily Photo. Day 320.

Castle Point Terrace, Hoboken, in the snow.

That hill is great for sleigh riding when there is a lot of snow.
