This is the second year of my taking Daily Photos and posting one to the Daily Photo gallery each day. The photo you see was taken the day it was posted ( with very few exceptions so far in the second year and no exceptions in the first year). The second year started on March 6, 2009.

You can see the year one gallery here: http://inourtime.smugmug.com/gallery/4468382_VLaHW/1/485853915_kBMcj

The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree.

It was supposed to snow but it was raining. I took lots of close-ups but I think this best shows the scale. I'll make a "Christmas In New York" gallery when I get a chance.

Yonah Schimmel's knish bakery on Houston (pronounced House-ton) Street.

Notice the two different spellings of Yonah's last name.

The Raven of Marble Cemetery.

OK, I don't even know if this is a Raven. It's a large black bird. I saw it at the NYC Marble Cemetery. I shot this through the fence. The lens I had only goes to 105mm. so this was the best I could do and this shot is heavily cropped. You must check out the NYC Marble Cemetery gallery that I created today to get an idea of this unique place and more photos of this bird.

Oh, and Mom4squirrels, you would love this place. It is crawling with dozens of fat squirrels.

Caught this interesting image above a doorway to the main NYC Dept. of Health Building on Worth Street (although this is not the main entrance). I wonder how many people even noticed it over the years. There is a lot of great ornamentation on this building.

World AIDS Day event in City Hall Park. For 24 hours, the names of all approximately 100,000 New Yorkers who have died of AIDS were being read starting at midnight.

72d Street IRT subway station original entrance at the intersection of Broadway and Amsterdam Avenues. I always liked this design. It's a registered historic place. It's unusual in that it's located on a traffic island. They built a similar one across the street a few years ago to add more stairs/exits. And yes, it was difficult getting a shot without cars or too many people blocking the view.
InOurTime > November 29, 2009 Daily Photo.

This photo was taken last night ( 11/28/09).

I think this shows the hustle and bustle of this stretch of Broadway in the '60s. I like the different colors also.

Notice the moving movie marquee. I can't imagine seeing an animated version of "A Christmas Carol", but I guess it's for kids. The best movie version I think is the one with Patrick Stewart, who I also saw do the one man show on Broadway. One the top five plays I have ever seen for sure. But I digress.

Thanks for all the comments on last night's photo and the others posted over the long weekend.

Bigelow's Pharmacy on 6th Avenue, near 9th Street.

The oldest pharmacy in Manhattan.
